The city of Horse Cave requires pets (dogs and cats) to be licensed. License are $5.00 (spayed and rabies shots/vet proof required) or $20.00 (not spayed/no proof) due each July 1. Animals without rabies shots can not be licensed. 

NOTE: A service animal means any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. 

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS, COMFORT, ANIMALS, AND THERAPY DOGS ARE NOT SERVICE ANIMALS UNDER TITLE II AND TITLE III OF THE ADA. A doctor's letter DOES NOT turn an animal into a service animal. 

A maximum of three pets are allowed at any residence. More than three pets requires a kennel license and is not allowed in R-1/R-2 (residential) zones.

All animals/pets must be confined to the owners property or in control of the owner at all times. Please be respectful to neighbors and their property.

Animals or pets in violation of Ordinance 2008-01 may be picked up by the Hart Co Animal Control Officer and transported to the Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society for longer term confinement, adoptions, or humane destruction. 

Swine and bees are also forbidden in the city.
Other animals are allowed with proper non-escape confinement but  may be subject to City ordinance #92.08 which pertains to disturbing noises as well as the Horse Cave Zoning Ordinance.
